Luis is a third-year student studying Computer Science with a specialization in Bioinformatics. His research interests are centered around using algorithms and pipelines to solve biological problems, such as cancer screening. Outside of his studies, you can find Luis playing saxophone or writing for his TikTok account.

Ananya is a junior at UC San Diego studying Cognitive Science with a specialization in Machine Learning and a minor in Data Science. She’s interested in using data to better understand biology and global health. Outside of research, she enjoys playing the flute.

Eric is a second-year Data Science Student who enjoys learning new things. In his free time, he backpacks and juggles—sometimes both simultaneously.

Maggie is a fourth-year Bioinformatics major who enjoys exploring the complexity of biology with computational tools. She enjoys hiking in her free time.

Jake is a third year majoring in biology with specialization in bioinformatics alongside minoring in computer science and global health. Hobbies include reading, playing video games, and hanging out with friends.

Joy is a sophomore at UCSD studying bioinformatics with a minor in computer science. During her free time, she likes to hang out with her friends and eat delicious food. 

Emanoel is a third-year Cognitive Science student with a focus on Machine Learning, driven by a passion to leverage data science and machine learning to support underrepresented communities in the healthcare sector with data-driven solutions.

Saanvi is a freshman majoring in biology with a specialization in bioinformatics and minoring in computer science. She is interested in genetics & evolutionary biology and their intersection with computation.

Noah Schulhof is a first-year student studying Data Science, Statistics, and Global Health. Research interests include neuroinformatics and the human genome.

Akhil Kommala is a first-year student studying data science and economics. Some research interests include artificial intelligence and bioinformatics.

Hebe is a third year undergraduate at Northwestern studying Biology, Data Science, and Global Health. Research interests include genetics and health-related topics.

Emma is a first-year studying Data Science, Global Health, and Computer Science, she is interested in using data analysis to understand biology and health better. Emma is also involved in the Bio&ChemExcel and NUBioscientist programs and enjoys reading and crocheting.

Kota is a sophomore studying journalism and data science, interested in the intersection between digital media content and user behavior analytics. Outside of the GMToL project, you can find Kota playing soccer at Martin Stadium or creating some data visualizations at The Daily Northwestern. 

Erica is a sophomore at Northwestern University studying biological sciences with a concentration in ecology, evolution, and conservation biology. She is interested in the field of mycology and researching symbiont association patterns. Outside of school, you can find Erica walking around campus uploading pictures of fungi onto iNaturalist.

Hi, my name is Emily Kelleher and I am a Junior at Northwestern University studying Data Science and Biology with a concentration in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation. Interested in research related to ecology, microbiology, and computational biology.

Zoey is a third-year at Northwestern studying Global Health and Biological Anthropology with a minor in Music. Her research interests lie within the intersectionality of minority-health disparity, genomic mapping, and computational biology. Outside of her classes, you can find Zoey working as a tour guide or performing with the marching band. 

Jack is a freshman at Northwestern University studying Data Science and Psychology. Jack is interested in the intersections of the two subjects and learning how an understanding of the human mind can lend insight into trends found in large datasets. Outside of the classroom, Jack can be found playing a variety of sports, binging a new TV series, or playing chess.

Nour is a second-year studying Neuroscience and minoring in Data Science and Economics. She joined this research project after working on chemically profiling Estrogen Receptors Alpha and Beta in the brain as part of her time at the Woolley Lab. Nour is interested in the intersections between brain analysis and computational science, and likes to stay informative about different economic development theories. Outside of her coursework, you can find Nour dancing for Typhoon Dance Troupe or reading history and philosophy books.

Hi! I am Siddharth Sivalanka, a freshman at the University of California San Diego. I'm a computer science major with a specialization in bioinformatics. I enjoy solving complicated problems and wish to use computational techniques to solve large-scale health issues

Mariya is a first-year Bioinformatics major at UC San Diego, working with Dr. Sam DeGregori on computational microbiome analysis, where she contributes to 16S and shotgun metagenomics workflows. During her time at the Knight Lab, she aims to explore a variety of bioinformatic tools to process metagenomic datasets. She is particularly interested in using computational approaches to uncover meaningful biological patterns and craft data-driven narratives that explain microbial function, with a broader goal of advancing applications in health and biotechnology.
